Lucknow: In a significant operation under the ongoing campaign for the safety and security of women and children, the Sushant Golf City Police arrested a young man accused of allegedly luring a minor girl away on the pretext of marriage.
The action was carried out under the directions of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters) Aparna Kumar. The operation was supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Amit Kumar Anand, Additional DCP (South) Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gosainganj, Rishabh Yadav. The police team was led by Station House Officer Rajeev Ranjan Upadhyay.
According to police officials, a complaint was lodged on December 2, 2025, by the father of a minor girl, alleging that his daughter had been enticed and taken away by a youth identified as Dhanush, a resident of Chhattisgarh. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Sushant Golf City Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
To trace the accused and recover the victim, a special police team was formed. Acting on technical surveillance, electronic evidence, and intelligence inputs, the team conducted a raid near Mastemau village and arrested the accused, identified as Dhanush Sahu (19), son of Ramavatar Sahu, a resident of Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly told police that he had previously worked in Lucknow’s Pintail Park area, where he became acquainted with the victim’s family. He claimed that a relationship developed between him and the girl and that he had taken her to his native village with the intention of marrying her. The accused further stated that he remained away from Lucknow after learning that police were searching for him and later returned to the city in search of employment, where he was apprehended.
Police have produced the accused before the court and initiated further legal proceedings.
Officials stated that the case highlights the department’s continued commitment to ensuring the safety of women and children and taking prompt action against those accused of crimes involving minors.
The accused was arrested in connection with Case Crime No. 972/25 registered at Sushant Golf City Police Station, Lucknow Commissionerate. Further investigation is underway.
